Anthony Knockaert came up with a moment of individual brilliance to secure a 2-1 win for Brighton and Hove Albion at rivals Crystal Palace.Glenn Murray’s first half strike was cancelled out by Luka Milivojevic’s penalty shortly after the break in the Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.With neither side able to get a firm grip on the game, Knockaert fired into the top corner from 20 yards in what was his final kick of the game.3

The visitors were lucky to still have all 11 players on the pitch after the opening seconds of the match. He opened the scoring in the 19th minute when the Palace defence failed to deal with Lewis Dunk’s long punt forward and the 35-year-old smashed the ball into the bottom corner from the right side of the area.His 100th league goal for Brighton also represented his fourth from four games against old club Palace, whom he left in 2015, and more importantly gave an organised team low on confidence a lead to defend.They did so with numbers and depth, limiting their rivals to only a blocked effort from Zaha after the ball was deflected into his path, Ryan tipping over Tomkins’ header from the resulting corner, and a further deflected shot from James McArthur before half-time.3

Palace were becoming reliant on another error to create the space they required to score and Davy Propper duly obliged with a clumsy challenge on Andros Townsend that gifted them the 50th-minute penalty from which Milivojevic equalised.If scoring increased their intensity as Brighton continued to tire, they still struggled for creativity. Intead, from out of the blue in the 74th minute, Knockaert restored the visitors’ lead.Controlling a fine long pass from Dale Stephens on the right wing, the midfielder cut inside Patrick van Aanholt, carried possession to the edge of the area and then brilliantly curled an effort in off the inside of the far post to seal victory. The Seagulls moved level on points with the Eagles following their win in south London.The sides occupy 13th and 14th place in the Premier League on 33 points each with Palace ahead with a slightly better goal difference.
