Man City’s players were celebrating title success in May 2019, but who will be holding the trophy on the final day of the season in 2020?
Here's how the opening weekend of the Premier League will get under way for the 2019/20 seasonIn May 2019, Pep Guardiola’s side started the day knowing victory would see them become the first team to retain the crown since Manchester United in 2009, and now we know who is playing who in August, here’s what May 2020 has to offer. The final day this time around lands on Sunday, May 17, with all the matches to kick-off at the exact same time, as is tradition. If the title race goes down to the wire between City and Liverpool again, their matches against Norwich and Newcastle respectively will prove key. City host newly-promoted Norwich at the Etihad while Liverpool have to visit Newcastle, in a reverse of the home/away schedule both teams had on 2018/19’s final day.Their fellow top six rivals have all also been kept apart on the final day, with Arsenal and Chelsea both at home – against Watford and Wolves respectively – while Tottenham travel to Crystal Palace and Man United visit Leicester. There is no standout fixture planned for the final day, but the drama is created by those teams still fighting for something on the last gameweek of the season – so you never know which match (or matches) to keep an eye on.Glen Johnson gives his review on the new Premier League fixtures
