Dave Kitson tells talkSPORT he feels for Paul Pogba and Manchester United players as training sessions ‘look like someone’s died’
Paul Pogba and his Manchester United team-mates are being forced to “play an unnatural game”, according to ex-Premier League striker Dave Kitson.Since making his 89million move to Old Trafford in August 2016, Pogba has struggled to fully make his mark on his second spell at the club.Pogba has had a somewhat frustrating time at Old Trafford2

Whether it’s been due to a lack of effort from the Frenchman or if United boss Jose Mourinho has been using Pogba incorrectly is a debate many have had their say on.However, more are leaning towards Pogba’s side after he excelled at the World Cup in the summer and in light of United’s poor start to the 2018/19 season.Pogba was also engaged in a training ground feud with Mourinho earlier in the season, an incident that was caught on camera. And Kitson leapt to the defence of Pogba and his United team-mates, suggesting the starting positions of the players do not bring out the best in them. Speaking to talkSPORT’s Mark Saggers on Saggs on Sunday, Kitson labelled United’s style of play as “anti-football” and likened it to the football he had to play at Stoke. He said: “I hate this anti-football. I hate it. I hated playing it for Stoke and I hate watching it at Manchester United.“I especially find it sad when there are great players being asked to play an unnatural game.“I think that the starting positions dont help him [Pogba]. He is way off the opposition and hes at least 20 yards off his opposite number whos got the ball because they dont press, they wait for teams to come onto them.Kitson believes United can get more out of Pogba2

“That is very anti-United and when they break hes too deep and when the ball goes to Pogba the whole move slows down and it just stops.“When he gets the ball hell look forward and theres nothing there. It goes out to the sides and before you know it its just going across the midfield until the move breaks down.“When you come out to the training pitch and try to shake hands with your manager and he completely bins you publicly that isnt respect.”Kitson also said that the training sessions at United are not enjoyable for the players so much so the atmosphere is like when “someone has died”.He added: I think if you look at when the England players from United go to England you can see them high-fiving, jumping all over each other, hugging each other.Go and watch a Man United training session – its like someone has died.
